Mountain West SANE Alliance

Glenwood-based River Bridge Regional Center recently announced that the Mountain West Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Alliance has found a permanent home under the River Bridge umbrella. In 2012 the Roaring Fork Valley lost its SANE Program, leaving the community vulnerable and local victims of sexual assault with inadequate services. A small group of professionals came together to reinstate the services that victims require, and formed the Mountain West SANE Alliance (MWSA). With dedication and tireless work, the group re-established services and in 2016, MWSA conducted its first SANE Examination. MWSA faced limited funding, mounting volunteer hours, and borrowed space; the longevity of the program soon was in question. To ensure that the community does not lose its adult SANE program again, River Bridge will provide the structure and leadership necessary for the permanency of the program.

Haunted Mine Drop Named
Top New Attraction

The Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has been announced as USA TODAY’s Best New Amusement Park Attraction of 2017. Opened in July 2017, the world’s first underground drop ride takes riders 110 feet down inside Iron Mountain. The Haunted Mine Drop beat other top rides at renowned parks such as Six Flags America, Dollywood, and the Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

“I’m elated by this news. As a small, family-owned park, we were humbled just to be in the running for this award alongside such icons in the amusement industry,” Nancy Heard, general manager of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, said. “To come out on top? Well, that just means so much to us.”
