Kindergarten Registration Held April 6

Registration for all children ready to enter kindergarten in the Roaring Fork Schools starting August 2018 may register from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 6. Children must be five years old on or before October 1 to enroll for the 2018-2019 school year. To register, parents should go to the school they plan to enroll their student in with a copy of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records. Parents planning to enroll their student in full-time kindergarten should also bring a check for $357 (half-day kindergarten is at no cost to parents). The registration process will include completing forms; all paperwork will be available in English and Spanish.

New Glenwood Gallery Opens

The New Bridge Art Gallery celebrated its grand opening on February 23, with a show featuring the work of owners Kris and Noemi Kosmowski. The gallery, located beside the Glenwood Springs Brew Garden at 115 6th Street, hopes to host a variety of shows throughout the year in addition to live painting demonstrations, music performances, and art events. 

Roaring Fork Capstone Project Seeks Community Experts

Roaring Fork Schools is assembling a database of community experts for the Capstone Project, a graduation requirement for all seniors in the Roaring Fork School District. The Capstone Project provides students with an opportunity to engage in real world, passion-driven projects while consulting their community expert for support and expertise. The community’s involvement in the program will expand students’ horizons and ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and character that is fundamental for success after graduation. Last Month for R2 Gallery Proposals

Carbondale Arts is seeking R2 Gallery exhibition proposals for the 2019 calendar year. Proposals may be for an exhibition of an artist’s own work or a group show (juried or invitational). Two- and three-dimensional works, as well as video installations, will be considered. Proposal forms are available at or at the office in The Launchpad. Library Computers Added

The Garfield County Libraries were recently awarded a grant from the Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District to purchase charging carts and 60 new Chromebook laptop computers. All adults with a valid library card can check out one of the new computers for use in their local library. “Having 10 mobile, easy-to-use Chromebooks at each library opens up so many opportunities for us,” said Garfield County Libraries Executive Director Jesse Henning.
