GSHS Biology Teacher Receives National Recognition

The National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) named Glenwood Springs High School (GSHS) teacher Justin Silcox the 2017-18 recipient of the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Colorado. NABT’s announcement letter explains that this means that “Justin Silcox is one of the best biology teachers in the country.” The association attempts to recognize an outstanding biology educator for grades 7-12 from each of the 50 states every year. Silcox has taught at GSHS since 2012.

“I’m honored to receive this award,” Silcox said. “I really appreciate the opportunity to share my passion for biology with Glenwood Springs High School students and to collaborate with colleagues at GSHS, the Roaring Fork School District, and the Colorado Association of Biology Teachers.” Silcox was honored on Saturday, November 10 at the NABT Professional Development Conference in San Diego, California.
