Brews for the Brave

Western Slope Veterans Coalition (WSVC) and United Way Battlement to the Bells (UWBB) will jointly manage the Beer Garden Concession at the 2019 Garfield County Fair and Rodeo, July 31–Aug. 4, held at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle. Proceeds from the concession will be gifted to the two nonprofits that rely on the financial support from the community, as well as grants and gifts. The “Brews for the Brave” partnership will directly benefit the veterans and community members served by these organizations. The two organizations share common community-advocacy goals. UWBB improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities from Battlement Mesa to Aspen, focusing on education, financial well-being and health. In 2017, WSVC opened the Jesse Beckius|Casey Owens Veterans Resource Center in Glenwood Springs to serve veterans in Eagle, Pitkin and Garfield Counties. AmeriCorps Vista volunteers will also provide support at the concession.

Glenwood Summer of Music

In 1985, the Summer of Jazz was launched as a way to bring together community and celebrate the sounds of Jazz. Over the years, the focus has expanded to include many forms of music, but the values of bringing people together, enjoying picnics, summer mountain evenings and great music continues to be a strong Glenwood Springs tradition. Now in its ninth season, the Glenwood Springs Summer of Music continues to meet with great success. These efforts would not be possible without its sponsors and donors. Join this season as a sponsor and help continue the Summer of Music in Two Rivers Park. JULY 3 – WILD ADRIATIC, Damien Smith Band; 7/10 – LAO TIZER, The Mixx; 7/17 – SETH WALKER, Citizen Twang; 7/24 – CITIZEN DAN, JAS Summer Session II.
